(Please note that the information on this page is subject to possible revision closer to the time of this year's Goose Fair.)
WEDNESDAY 14TH OCTOBER
There is very little parking available in the town on Goose Fair day. Use of the Park and Ride scheme is recommended. There will be a clearly signposted one-way system operating around the town, coming into force with the road closures from 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday 13th October, lasting throughout Goose Fair day on Wednesday 14th October 2009.
The following roads will be closed to traffic:
- Plymouth Road from Drakes Statue to Bedford Square
- Abbey Place
- Russell Street
- Market Street
- Market Road
- Canal Road
PARK AND RIDE SCHEME
This will operate from the following three places, operated by the Tavistock and Plymouth-Tamar Lions Clubs:
- Lumburn Rise on Callington Road (from Liskeard direction)
- Harford Bridge Holiday Park near Mary Tavy (from Okehampton)
- Yelverton Aerodrome
The first two of these charge £5 per car and all occupants; the latter (Yelverton) makes a charge per passenger of £2 per adult and 50p per child.
The Park & Ride scheme will operate between 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 p.m. on the day, depending on demand.
DISABLED PARKING
There is limited parking available in the Abbey Rise car park (exclusively for disabled parking on Goose Fair Day). This is a pay and display facility.
The Park & Ride schene operating from Yelverton has some easy-access buses for disabled passengers.
Please contact the Town Council Works Superintendent, Wayne Southall on 07714 222341 for advice if you are intending to bring in a minibus with a group of disabled passengers.
OTHER PARKING
Coach parking is available at Tavistock College. Charge: £20.00 per coach.
Privately-organised parking is also usually available (at a charge) at Crowndale Football Ground.
Evening parking (from 5.00 p.m.) is available also at West Devon Borough Council's offices at Kilworthy Park - proceeds to charity.
