Minutes of a Meeting of the PLANS COMMITTEE of Tavistock Town Council held in the Council Chamber, Drake Road, Tavistock on

The Vice Chairman opened the meeting and remained in the Chair until the Chairman arrived at the beginning of Minute 589.
584. APOLOGIES
There were no apologies for absence.
585. MINUTES
Minutes of the Meetings of the Committee held on the 8 February 2008 and the 19 February 2008 were signed as a true record.
586. MATTERS ARISING
There were no matters arising.
587. DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK
Strategic Land Availability Assessment - A letter for consideration had been circulated to committee members. As any response was to be received by 4 April 2008, it was agreed to put this as an agenda item for the Plans Meeting on Tuesday 18 March 2008588.

There was nothing further to report at this time.
589. LDF - CORE STRATEGY FURTHER CONSULTATION REPORT
As a result of a working group meeting between the Mayor and Cllrs. Harper and Whitcomb, Cllr. Harper had prepared a draft, which had been circulated for discussion. The feeling on the majority of members was that they could not support either Option A or Option B. Cllr. Harper felt that this put pressure on the local electorate as an 'Hobson's Choice' and that the town would implode with the scale of proposed new dwellings with inadequate infrastructure. Cllr. Whitcomb agreed with this and Cllr. Mrs. Metcalf said that townspeople were concerned daily with the present lack of infrastructure and felt we should say 'no' to the proposals. A majority of members were also against identifying any other areas for development, again for the lack of infrastructure. Cllr. Best said that he could identify some three areas to the north of the town, but that he would take the feelings of this committee to the meeting of Council, which would follow on from this.
590. GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE
a) Ref: P/A No. 10469/2007/Tav - Outline application for erection of two dwellings on land to rear of Mornish and Thorn, Down Road, Tavistock. Notice of Appeal on 22 April 2008 was noted.
b) Ref: P/A No. 10723/2007/Tav - Application for erection of ten detached dwellings on land at Lower Brook, Brook Lane, Tavistock. Notice of Appeal on 7 May 2008 was noted.
c) Naming of new development - for 12 flats off Barley Market Street. - proposed name is Chapel Mews. After discussion it was agreed to propose Chapel Heights as this reflected the site being that of the old chapel and 'Heights' being more representative of the building's position.
d) Ref: P/A Nos 11450/2008/Tav and 11451/2008/Tav - Erection of 2 dwellings at land opposite 7 Priory Gardens, Tavistock. Letter of objection had been received and was noted.
