013. MINUTES OF THE CEMETERIES SUB-COMMITTEE
Cllr Sherrell presented the minutes of the meeting held on 21st May 2007.
014. WORKS SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Members noted without comment the report at Annex A.
015. MARKET REEVE’S REPORT
Members noted the report at Annex B. There was some debate about he Chamber of Commerce project to install six flower displays on Bedford square. It was noted that the matter would be on the Finance and General purposes Committee agenda later that evening, but Members wished to make their views known to that Committee. They were concerned about vandalism, and noted that the Chamber had plans to remove the displays each evening if necessary. Some were concerned that two seats would have to be removed to allow siting of the displays, but a site meeting had been held and no other solution could be found. The Chamber would be responsible for all maintenance, and had asked the Town Council to pay for two of the displays at a total cost of some £1,300. In principle Members supported the project, and RECOMMENDED that the Council sponsor two of the displays as requested, providing the Chamber found resources for the other four, otherwise they felt the project might become too much of a Town Council matter.
016. TOWN HALL MANAGER’S REPORT
Members noted without comment the report at Annex C.
017. URGENT BUSINESS BROUGHT FORWARD AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CHAIRMAN.
Cllr Trew reported that he had attended a meeting of the Dartmoor Commoners Association just after the election, and they had queried the Council’s decision concerning the Cricket Club practice nets.
