07/07/10 Football's coming home to Monksmead

Are you the next Rooney, Kaka, Torres or Robben and living in the Monksmead area?

Now youngsters in the area will be able to practice their world-cup footballing skills right outside their doors, thanks to a joint effort between West Devon Borough Council, Tavistock Town Council and the local Police.

A lonesome goal post that has been on land owned by the Borough Council at the bottom of Monksmead has now been joined by a mate, meaning that the local youngsters can work off their energy in time-honoured fashion - by bending it like Beckham!

The small project was taken forward by West Devon’s Community Safety Officer, Louisa Wall, following up an idea from local PCSO Kevin Williams.  Tavistock Town Council played their part with a matching goal post and the manpower to put it up.
