"Go Gothic Market" 19th October 2019

Venue The Butchers' Hall Tavistock

The ‘Go Gothic Market’ on the 19th of October is the final event of ‘Tavistock’s 1st Gothic and Neo-Gothic Celebration – Literature, Art, Architecture, Theatre, Film and Creative Fun.’ The celebration starts on the 12th of October and is organised by Tavistock Library and the Friends of Tavistock Library. It is supported by Tavistock Heritage Trust and other voluntary community organisations. The market in the Butchers’ Hall will include Gothic and Steam Punk traders, mini-theatrical performances, music and stalls where authors of both fiction and non-fiction will be able to discuss their writing and showcase their work. Prizes will also be presented for the competitions that form part of this celebration including the winning monologue, which will be performed and the children’s ‘Garden Gothic Gnomes’ and the ‘Gothic Biscuit and Cake’ competitions. Everyone is welcome to come along and contribute a word, draw or colour a picture to add to two ‘giant’ Gothic themed books, which will then be displayed in Tavistock Library. There will also be prizes for both adults and children, who dare to come along dressed as Gothic characters, especially local ones like Lady Howard or mischievous pixies and includes bats and spiders, but not zombies.
