WORKSHOP
Discover what your machine can do. You will make a small book of samples, techniques and stitches that can then be used as a reference for the future, for example how to insert a zip, make piping and work buttonholes.
We will explain about different needles and experiment with various threads. (We will have a selection available)
Does not need to be a new machine if you have one you would just like to get to know better then thats fine.
On this workshop we will investigate the workings of your machine and how to keep it clean and in good working order. What the feet do. How to use the various dials, change settings and needles.
Sample your decorative stitches, put in a zip and make buttonholes. Look at extra feet eg walking feet, how to drop the feed dogs and set your quarter inch for patchwork. Make samples of almost invisible hems and discover how to get a good satin stitch. And hopefully answer as many questions as we can. We will make a small decorative folder or book to hold your samples and notes you make to remind yourself of what you did. There will be a sample in the shop.
This work shop will be held at the Town Hall, Tavistock. A lift is available to take you up with your machine and the town hall staff have offered their help from there with any machines
Tea, Coffee and biscuits are provided free of charge and a packed lunch can be brought with you or is available in town.
